the design process.

The bell ringing ceremony at the Nasdaq MarketSite represents an enormous opportunity for companies to celebrate their achievements and showcase its brand. Companies with this tremendous honor would be sure to prepare accordingly and have ample time to produce a piece that is worthy of this accolade.

Luckily for Nutriband their date was expedited and they desperately needed help. They reached out to RedChip (My current employer) which led to the first challenge for this project.

This project has allowed my employer to secure several more projects including their recent client Hempacco who rang the closing bell in late September 2022. I was extremely proud to work on this project which featured pop legends Rick Ross as well as Cheech & Chong. You can see their video below.

Designing a 7 story digital ad that will be displayed on rotation for a full hour in Times Square.

With all client projects, the first thing I want to know is what the client doesn’t want., Nutriband didn’t initially provide our team with much direction other than the technical specifications that were required for the advertising video. Having received this request at approximately
3 pm with only 2 hours left in the day, I didn’t hesitate on getting started.

As you can see the first revision is much different from the final solution. Having worked with Nutriband on several projects, we understood their business, brand, and products well. I quickly provided an example using a comp that a very talented colleague had created previously and some of the collateral they have sent over in the past for review, so we could see what the client didn’t want.

Nutriband is primarily engaged in the development of a portfolio of transdermal (delivered through the skin) pharmaceutical products. Their lead product is their AVERSA technology which is an abuse-deterrent transdermal technology specifically for opioids.

They wanted us to incorporate AVERSA into the design. With a better understanding of the project
the client provided some additional feedback and sent over a few samples for inspiration for us
to try again and to hopefully help them create something they would be proud to showcase.

After receiving the first review the client was reluctant to move forward. Which was great. It allowed them to understand what they didn’t want for this project.

Nutriband Nasdaq Tower Version 1

With feedback received I quickly sent over another revision as you can see here. It felt very empty and needed some additional layers to feel more alive, but Nutriband was happy with the direction. I kept building
the composition up with a few layers, including some fog, lens flares,
and some particles, in Version 3 you can also see that we kept both Nutriband and AVERSA on screen at the same time, as opposed to alternating between the two.

Below you can see a small breakdown of all the layers and how they come together to make the entire comp.

With the final version sent the client gave us their stamp of approval and we submitted the assets to the Nasdaq on their behalf.

A little nervous from the time crunch and the severity of the project all we could do now is wait.

Two days later the ceremony began and we all watched as a team live from the RedChip Office in Orlando. It was a very exciting moment not only for the Nutriband team but our team as well. We have been able to utilize this piece in several other promotional pieces for the company, in a motion graphic voice-over ad which RedChip refers to as a “MicroAd”, an interview segment that has been featured several times on the RedChip Money Report which airs weekly on the Bloomberg Financial Network.

Thanks for taking the time to read my breakdown of the Nutriband Nasdaq MarketSite Ad, this project was very “untraditional” so to speak, if you would like some insight into a more traditional workflow process I encourage you to follow the link below where I break down my role in the 3D product animation video for Sharps Technology.
